Deterioration is a series of surreal, abstract portraits using the process of photo manipulation via chemical interventions on ink prints.

This series explores themes of decay, deterioration and the fragility of the human condition, particularly through the subject of family, the connection to my loved ones and the fear of losing them. This is quite paradoxical; I fear the loss of my loved ones, however I am the one inflicting this portrayal of decay and deterioration on their portraits.

 

The abstract manipulations also play on bigger philosophical questions about identity, the consequences of external influences on the human body, and the impermanence of our physical selves.
